UNO-X, PETROL STATION – DENMARK
Underneath an Uno-X petrol station in the Danish town of Praestoe, an oil spill of 5,000 kilos of oil was discovered in the soil. The spill was spreading to the surrounding area, contaminating the neighbouring properties as deep as 5.5 metre below the surface. At the same time, the petrol station was in active use making the clean-up task even more challenging.
Environment-friendly solution
Renowned for its sustainable remediation solutions, the international oil company consulted Ejlskov about the spill.
The global remediation leader suggested a targeted BioRemediation treatment using bacteria to degrade the chemical compounds, which would initially contain, and gradually remove the contamination. Because of its sustainable remediation technology, Ejlskov was able to clean up the polluted soil with no impact on ground water quality making room for a clean environment.
Continuing the activities
By applying a sectional installation of the BioRemediation treatment, customers were able to access the Uno-X station throughout the entire clean-up process saving the international oil company from a significant loss of revenue.
Besides keeping the petrol station running, the BioRemediation treatment alone was half the price of traditional solutions, e.g. excavation, resulting in even greater savings.
